Special treatment

Pilih kasih

Saya berkata ... minggu depan.

Special treatment

We just got a new support staff: Aspalela, a technical assistant formally attached to a local authority for 10 years. I asked and she welcomed me giving her a personal course in QGIS. She has no  background in GIS but because she paid close attention throughout my lessons and asked me questions whenever in doubt which I asked of her. In a period of 1 day she completed the basic course. The next day, she got trained in other intermediate stuff. I like her attitude because she was very objective and did not harbour any prejudice towards QGIS, thus, her acceptance towards QGIS grew very fast and she could see as well as understand why I am for QGIS but at the same time,  because she began to see so many points in favour of QGIS, she began to wonder why some were anti-QGIS.  I asked her now that I taught her the ropes, what she thought of QGIS and she replied that she did not expect GIS to be such a difficult subject to learn with QGIS. She found QGIS user- friendly and straight forward which made it easy to learn. I asked her if there were any bad points  and she replied not really merely that she needs to be familiar with it on a daily basis just like any other software she said. Earlier on while waiting for QGIS to be installed in her notebook, I side tracked her to Ubuntu, asked her to compare and contrast it against Windows using my dual-boot computer. She was asked to surf sites she regular does using Windows then again with Ubuntu. After all  that,  I've converted another to Ubuntu. Again, she could not understand why people are indifferent to Ubuntu and she feels it is the faster and better computer operating system. She wants me now to dual-boot her office computer and personal notebook which I said ... next week.
