Troubleshooting QGIS Ver. 1.8.0

Membaikpulih QGIS Ver. 1.8.0

Alangkah baiknya kalau dulu saya dah mengikuti bidang sains komputer!

Troubleshooting QGIS Ver. 1.8.0

I am currently trying to transform some GPS spreadsheet data into a GIS format but am faced by some perplexing results with Ver 1.8.0. Whilst the task of transforming the GPS spreadsheet data is not a issue, a problem occurred when I tried to overlay the vector layer over a raster layer, namely, Google Hybrid map. With my office Ubuntu QGIS 1.8.0, the vector layer refused to appear but  the Google Hybrid map did. Then I dual-booted the office computer, activated Windows QGIS 1.7.4 used the same data and the vector layer appeared along with Google Hybrid map. Thus, I thought Ubuntu OpenLayers plugin 0.61 was incompatible with the Ubuntu QGIS 1.8.0 as against Windows Open Layers plugin 0.61 with Windows QGIS 1.7.4 but when I went home and gave my Ubuntu QGIS 1.8.0 a try with the same data, I found that I could do what I could not with my Office Ubuntu QGIS 1.8.0. This could only mean that my home Ubuntu QGIS 1.8.0 has a more updated set of libraries than my Office Ubuntu QGIS 1.8.0 though I thought both have been updated to the hilt. So how come one can but the other cannot do the same job. Beats me...I wish I had taken up computer science!

  1. There is a neat feature appeared in the recent version of QGIS - it's called Log messages. You can turn it on going "View >> Panels >> Log Messages".

And of course you can always debug the program to quickly troubleshoot the problem. ;)
